Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick, melted)
1 cup (packed) brown sugar
1 large egg (lightly beaten)
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
12 Winans' Sea Salt Caramels
Sprinkle of sea salt (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Line 8x8 baking pan and line with parchment.
2. In a small bowl, combine dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda) and set aside.
3. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. As soon as butter melts completely, remove from heat and add brown sugar to saucepan and whisk for 1-2 minutes. Let cool at room temperature for 10 minutes.
4. Add butter and sugar to stand mixer. Add vanilla and then egg and whisk to combine. Add the dry ingredients and whisk to combine.
5. Chop sea salt caramels. Add half the sea salt caramels to batter and mix. Reserve half for after baking.
6. Pour batter into prepared baking pan and bake 26-30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Immediately top with remaining sea salt caramels, and sprinkle of sea salt (optional).
8. Let cool completely before cutting into squares or rectangles.
